DAVAO CITY, Aug.17 (PIA) -
The award aims to honor the
sacrifices and contributions of Filipino migrants, highlighting the best
practices of OFWs and their families in overcoming the challenges of migration.
The search focuses on OFW families
who have nurtured strong family relations, properly managed the financial
benefits from overseas employment, excelled educationally as well as
professionally, and achieved positive impact in the community where they
belong.
The MOFYA will award two Outstanding
OFW families per region – one for the landbased and one for the seabased
category. The winners will represent the region in the national contest.
The criteria of the selection process are as follows:
1.
Wholesome OFW Family (50%),
2.
Civic/Community Involvement of OFW and Family (20%);
3. Success in OFW and/or Family member/s education or
profession (20%); and
4. Success in Managing Family Finances (10%).
In order to qualify for the search, nominees should comply
with the following requirements:
a)
The family should be headed by an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW),
formerly or presently working abroad with a formal or informal contract of
employment or work permit and with proof of OWWA membership.
b)
The OFW either married or single, should have at least five (5) years work
experience as an OFW.
c)
The OFW family is known as solid/stable family in the locality,
d)
Family must be financially stable.
