DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur, Aug. 27 – The Davao del Sur Electric
Cooperative (Dasureco), the lone power distributor in the province, spearheaded
a tree planting activity and clean-up drive at the coastal areas of Barangay
Aplaya here early Wednesday morning.
Dasureco general manager Engr. Godofredo Guya, who led other
cooperative officials and employees, said that the activity was in connection
with the celebration of the National Electrification Awareness Month.
“The event was a result of Dasureco's commitment towards
environmental protection and management as well as the desire to enjoin the
people to embark in the same pursuit,” Guya said.
Participants in the clean-up drive arrived at the coastal area as
early as 4 a.m. Wednesday to plant mangrove trees and gather solid wastes in
efforts to help protect picnic goers from stepping up on sharp objects.
