PANABO CITY, DAVAO DEL NORTE (August 6) PIA - -
The Rotary Club of Central Panabo (RCCP) conducted yesterday a symposium on
Human Immunodeficiency Virus / Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS)
at ACES Polytechnic College.
Around 120 college students participated in the
HIV/AIDS Symposium, which aims to educate the students about the behaviour of
the disease.
Jean Ike Gepaya, speaker of the symposium and a
Rotarian, elaborated the spread and development of HIV to AIDS and its
symptoms.
Gepaya added that the students are very prone to
this disease because at their age, they are sexually active.
He suggested to the students that if they cannot
control their urges, they better apply safe sex by using condoms.
Meanwhile, RCCP President Russel Ledesma said
that the club plans to push more educational campaign this year.
“This shall only be the start of our information
and education drive; we will be also be conducting advocacies on dengue-free
community and financial literacy,” Ledesma added.
The Rotary Club of Central Panabo has been
existent since 1999 and Ledesma is the 16th president of the club.
