ISLAND GARDEN CITY OF SAMAL, August 7, 2015 - The
Department of Tourism Region (DOT)- XI conducted a workshop
titled Revisiting Samal and Talikud Tour Packages and Davao – Samal
Tourism Partnership Program held last July 31 in Camp Holiday Resort
and Recreation Area in Babak, Island Garden City of Samal.
The event was aimed to effectively promote the Island
Garden City of Samal being part of Region XI and to build stronger foundation
in tourism industry with its neighboring city which is Davao City,
The said workshop was collaborated with LGSP-LED- Canada,
Department of Tourism XI, Local Government Unit of IGaCoS, Province of Davao
Del Norte and Davao City. It aims to merge the private sectors which undeniably
play a vital role in tourism industry with tour operators for great economic
productivity since tour operators have this wide market such as connections in
other country.
The DOT- XI planned the Davao-Samal Program Partnership to
promote Davao-Samal tourism industry together, along with private sectors such
as owners of beach resorts and other tourist destination owned privately in the
island. The Barangay all over the island were encouraged as well to
participate through agri-eco-tourism which also could contribute to the tourism
industry.
“The Department of Tourism is undertaking steps to level up the
quality of visitor’s experience and tourist’s holistic adventure in our tourist
destinations especially in Island Garden City of Samal which is known to
be the Jewel of Davao Gulf. Many fell in love with this island so together let
us push this”, Department of Tourism XI Regional Director Roberto P. Alabado
III said.
The Department of Tourism XI strongly emphasized the great
potential for economic development that private sectors can bring since Tourism
industry is a private sector driven. Therefore, Tourism can’t stand with
government alone. (MLA Samal)
