Compostela Valley Province, September 29, 2015 – The province of Compostela Valley celebrated,
along with the global community, the World Tourism Day on September 27, with
its theme “One Billion Tourists, One Billion Opportunities.”
Starting the first week, however, Compostela Valley, has already
put up various activities in observance to the Tourism Month.
Last September 7-11, 2015, activities are Investment Code Revision
Orientation in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI),
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Sangguniang
Panlalawigan, Laag Ta Uy! Mall Exhibit/One Man Exhibition of Mr. Kervy Lim,
Tourism Caravan with stakeholders meeting with the Department of Tourism (DOT).
For the second week, as part of the Laag Ta Uy! Program, the
tourism had a simultaneous tour of the 11 towns of the province. For the third
week, it is the Training Week for Tourism and Livelihood. Activities are Candle
Mold Making, Tour Package Development Training, Banana Processing, Tokwa, Taho,
Taosi at Itlog Maalat Training, Mayaon Cave Guide Training and Cave Tour of
Mayaon National High School. For the last week of the month, Community Tour
Guiding Training at Maragusan and Diliman Preparatory School Immersion Tour.
Last September 21, a Candle Making was held at the
capitol lobby with invited instructor Cherry Mae N. Tila, Science Research
II of DOST Davao Region. She has shared her knowledge on how to mold and make
different candles in strategic methods. This is participated in by teachers,
students, provincial employees and walk-ins.
In all, the activities do not just focus on how to attract
tourists but also opens an outlet for economic growth ready for tourism. (Honeylyn
