COMPOSTELA VALLEY PROVINCE, September 1, 2014--- The province joins the nation in observance to the Philippine Councilors’ League (PCL) Week opening with a Fun Run on August 30 at the capitol grounds.
Leading the celebration is PCL-Comval Chapter President and ex-officio SP Member Raul Timogtimog along with the Sangguniang Bayan Members in the 11 municipalities of the province.
Running for 3K and 5K, more than 2,300 registrants join in the dawn run arriving as early as 4 in the morning. A brief program follows with an awarding of the winners. For 3K Run, 1st placer for male is 12 year-old Marlon Moralde and his 9 y.o. sister Nova Queen for the female category. Both clock at 11 minutes-21 seconds and 15 minutes, respectively.
The 5K run for male category is PO2 Rodien Ormigas of PNP Compostela clocking at 17 min and 14 sec. while Thelma Neri of LGU Montevista bags the 1st place for female at 24 min and 59 sec.
BM Timogtimog expressed his thanks to all the partners during the program saying this will help support the different programs and projects of the PCL with the theme, “Tapat na serbisyo at pagkakaisa para sa kaligtasan, kalusugan at kapayapaan tungo sa malinis at mahusay na lokal na pamahalaan.”
Aside from the fun run, the PCL Week celebration in Comval will follow a Simultaneous Flag Raising Ceremony and Convocation in all municipalities to be led by the SB Members on September 1.
On September 2-5, a PCL convention will be held at the Forest Park in Dahilayan, Bukidnon. Activities include the launching of the Local Legislative Award, PCL General Assembly, Seminar on Rural Urban Linkage and Implication to Policy Making. There will also be a Basketball league, Sayawitan or a dance-song competition and daily morning Praise, Zumba, and Tai chi Exercises. (fe f. maestre, ids-comval)
