Samal opens privately designed cemetery

ISLAND GARDEN CITY OF SAMAL. The city government here opens Samal Island Memorial Park in Barangay San Miguel, Samal District, Island Garden City of Samal, Thursday, August 23, 2012.

Samal Island Memorial Park also called Pahulayan Memorial Park is a public cemetery furnished with amenities comparable to a private memorial park. It offers 62 mausoleum lots with 42 square meter per lot area and 2,005 subterranean lots  offered in the first phase of the project.

The city government budgeted P20 million pesos for the site development and construction of facilities of the public cemetery.

This project is given priority by the city government to ease up the congested existing public cemetery which has been accommodating interment for more than 50 years to the general public.

Other than providing a decent resting place for their deceased loved ones, the Pahulayan Memorial Park serves as an income-generating project of the city government.

The Economic Enterprise Division of the City Mayor’s Office is tasked to manage the project which will be open to all with affordable prices.  The division has developed the necessary papers for the selling and marketing of lots to the public. (melrosesamalcio)
