DAVAO CITY, July 14 – Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMPC)
has issued a special service campaign for Toyota and Lexus ABS Brake Actuator
Assembly.
In a letter to Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)
Undersecretary for Consumer Protection Group Victorio Mario A. Dimagiba dated
26 May 2015, Lawyer Rommel Gutierrez, TMPC’s First Vice President for
Government and Industry Affairs of its Corporate Affairs Group, said that these
particular vehicles Toyota Alphard were produced from 22 January 2015 until 26
January 2015, while Lexus NX200t were produced from 18 December 2014 until 31
January 2015.
He added that the special service campaign covers 18 units of
Toyota Alphard and 37 units of Lexus NX200t were officially sold in the
Philippines.
An improperly shaped component inside the ABS Actuator Assembly
may have been damaged during the press fitting assembly process, creating
minute resin fragments. Fragments of the resin component may get stuck in the
ABS Brake Actuator which may result in the delay of activation of oil pressure
control of the ABS function which may cause the loss of vehicle stability.
“As a preventive measure, we will replace the ABS Brake Actuator
Assembly with a new one, at NO COST to our customers,” Gutierrez said.
TMPC has committed to contact the affected customers through
notification letters and invite them to bring their vehicles to authorized
Toyota dealers for vehicle servicing.
Meanwhile, DTI-Davao Region Officer-in-Charge Maria Belenda Q.
Ambi said Dabawenyos who bought a Toyota Alphard or a Lexus NX200t vehicle
produced during said period may also contact the nearest DTI office should they
have clarifications or some other concerns relative to this advisory.
In Davao City, DTI office is located at 2F Mintrade Realty
Building, Monteverde Avenue corner Sales Street. They can be reached at (082)
224-0511. (DTI-11/NCL/jmm)
