DAVAO CITY, July 8 (PIA) Local exporters based in Mindanao will
hold the Mindanao Exporters’ Congress and Trade Expo 2016, on July 23-25 at the
SMX Convention Hall.
Edwin Sotto, spokesperson of the PhilExport in Davao Region
said this year’s theme will be “Integrating the Mindanao SMEs in the Global
Value Chain.”
He said the congress is another exposure for the Mindanao
exporters, sponsors and exhibitors by giving them the opportunity to do
business-to-business matching and networking with the players in the global
chain.
Sotto said invited guests from the line government agencies in
agriculture, trade and industry, Mindanao Development Authority and the
Canadian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines will be providing updates and
information for the exporters and other participants in trade partnership
facilitation, taking advantage of global market opportunities, business
opportunities arising from the regional economic integration.
“Exporters need to be aware the extent and value of their
respective businesses,” he said.
Ferdinand Maranon, president of the PhilExport in Davao Region
said resources speakers from the cacao, coconut and rubber industries will also
provide inputs about their best practices in the global market.
“This year’s congress will highlight several technology successes
and new developments in marketing and value-adding opportunities to various
export commodities,” he said.
Maranon said former Senator Francis Pangilinan, presidential
adviser on agriculture is also expected to grace the occasion. (PIA
