DAVAO DEL NORTE, August 27 (PIA) - - Two Produkto DavNor products recently bagged awards in separate trade exhibitions in Davao City.
Vegetable chips from Frux Food Products and “Tungkod ni Juan” (Cane of Juan) from Ubra ni Juan grabbed the most innovative awards in the Great Mindanao Food Fair at Abreeza Mall and Mindanao Craft and Cultural Village at SM Lanang, respectively.
Frux Food Products and Ubra ni Juan are members of the Produkto DavNor, a provincial initiated seal of quality products made in Davao del Norte, which are regularly displayed at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex.
Ryan Llana, marketing head of Frux Food Products, said that the vegetable chips was inspired by some producers in Visayas.
“What we are making is a vegetables chips that is a fusion of horse radish (malunggay), squash, carrots, jute (saluyot), cassava and other leafy vegetables,” Llana said.
Llana said that they had just launched the product during the trade fair and were happy with the reactions of the buyers.
He bared that originally they targeted the school children as potential markets for the chips, resulting to a P5 and P10 packaging.
“For the launching, we also introduced P35 packaging with a promo of three pieces for P100,” he added.
Aside from the vegetable chips, the new products of Frux are bread fruit chips, gabi chips, banana chips and cassava chips.
Meanwhile, the “Tungkod ni Juan” is a 4 feet drift wood designed with lizards and entangled cobra on its handle and skull on the top, all of which are made from synthetic clay. The cane is being sold at P 3,500.
Both the winning products each won P 10,000.00. (PIA 11, Michael Uy)
