DepEd builds classrooms in IgaCoS

ISLAND GARDEN CITY OF SAMAL, Davao del Norte, August 7, 2014 - In preparation for the full implementation of the K to 12 curriculum and in addressing the classroom backlog in the Division of Island Garden City of Samal the Department of Education (DepEd) is in full swing in the construction of classroom buildings and water and sanitation facilities to the identified schools.

DepEd allocated more than P36-million  for classroom construction out from its Basic Educational Facilities Fund (BEFF) and the Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme and around 3 million pesos for water and sanitation (Watsan) facilities in IGaCoS.

The following are the recipient schools: BEFF 1st Batch: Caliclic Elementary School, Angel Villarica Central Elementary School (AVCS), and Del Monte High School; BEFF 3rd Batch: Tagbaobo ES, Balet ES, Licup ES, Kaputian National High School, San Antonio NHS, Tagbitan-ag NHS, Gamban-Dadatan Ext., Pangubatan ES, Guilon ES, Limao ES, Aundanao ES, Linosotan ES, Don Esteban Dasalla ES, Bandera ES, AVCS, and Buhangin ES; PPP: Samal NHS, Nieves Villarica NHS, Mambago-B NHS, and Libertad Ext.; Watsan 1st Batch: Mambago-B NHS, Anonang NHS, Samal NHS, Matanos NHS, San Jose ES, Penaplata Central Elementary School, AVCS, and Nieves Villarica NHS.

The implementation of the said projects is being handled by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Davao del Norte District Engineering Office.

Meanwhile, the local government unit (LGU) through Mayor Aniano P. Antalan constructed also P19 million worth of classrooms to three schools in each district.  A two-storey six-classroom are now being constructed at Nieves Villarica NHS in Babak, Penaplata Central ES in Samal and Anonang NHS in Kaputian.The funding of which is part of the city’s prize of being awarded with the seal of good governance.
