Monkayo to deliver food packs to typhoon-hit Leyte

MONKAYO, Compostela Valley, Nov. 22 (PIA)—The municipal government of Monkayo is set to deliver on November 25 (Monday) some 2,000 food packs with clothing for super-typhoon Yolanda victims in Leyte.

Municipal Information Officer Joan Pintal said the municipal government slashed P300,000 from funds of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRRMC) for relief assistance to typhoon victims in Leyte.

The fund is on top of the money raised by the municipal government from its employees who are also asked to chip in money for relief goods, she said.

Pintal described this act as a sort of “giving back” what volunteers from Leyte had done at the time when Monkayo severely suffered from Typhoon Pablo last year which wrought havoc to lives and properties of residents in five towns of Compostela Valley including MOnkayo.   (PIA 11/ Jeanevive Duron-Abangan)
