Kantahan sa Tagum holds grand showdown

TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, Nov. 28--- The first batch of champions in the revived Kantahan sa Tagum are officially known as the Local Government of Tagum held its grand finals last November 24, 2013 in time of the 56thyear Parochial Fiesta of Christ the King.

Kantahan sa Tagum is an amateur singing contest organized by the Local Government Unit of Tagum City which is held weekly at the Freedom Park. It is divided into two categories—the children and the adult category.

Aljhun Alborme was declared as champion in the Children’s category, while other winners in the said category include 1st runner up Lindo John Liquigan and 2nd runner up Kristine Reign Flor.

Ronilo Santander’s soulful rendition of “Puppy Love” made him the champion in the adult category, followed by 1strunner up Roldan Caderao and 2nd runner up Raymond Paoner.

Champion singers received 5,000 pesos in cash with gift certificates, 3,000 pesos and 2,000 pesos for the 1st and 2nd runners up, respectively.

While the first batch’s grand showdown is now over, Kantahan sa Tagum shall continue to hold its weekly showdown leading up to its next grand finals to be staged next year in time for Musikahan sa Tagum, the city’s official festival.
