TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, Oct. 16 – Last Saturday (Oct. 12) Tagum City Mayor Allan Rellon with his his department heads and city legislators visited the more than 30 hectares of land owned by the City Government of Tagum.
Located in eight development sites, Mayor Rellon started the site visitation by planting a mangrove of Bakawan specie in the five-hectare site in Barangay Bincungan together with the stakeholders of the City Cooperative Development Council (CCDC) and the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) of Saint Mary’s College Campus.
As they jumped from one site to the other, Mayor Rellon stated that “It would be easy for us officials to manage our city if we ourselves could personally see our development sites” as he mingled with Vice Mayor Boyet Gementiza, Councilor Jun Coquilla, Coun. Ling Estabillo, Coun. Rudy Onlos and Coun. Fernand Bordios during the site visitation in fishing village, mud crub culture, relocation areas, farm-demo sites, proposed satellite market site and commercial lot owned by LGU Tagum.
The ocular visit ended in a nearby restaurant with an assessment and the Officials found out that some of its sites were never been maximized. “I just can’t let idle lands exist in our city, we have to maximize its usage by planting trees or vegetable farms,” said Mayor Rellon instructing to the Chiefs of City Environment and Natural Resources Office and the City Agriculture’s Office.
