Comval's Adopt-a-child program now grassroots-based

COMPOSTELA VALLEY PROVINCE, October 17, 2013 (PIA) ---Now on its fourth batch, the “Adopt-A-Child Program” initiated by Governor Arturo T. Uy the as Provincial Nutrition Council Chair has been widened into community-based approach already.

This, as gladly shared by Provincial Administrator Virgilia S. Allones, makes the fourth wave of its series shines more since aside from the adopted 31 malnourished children in New Bataan, the whole community is being catered as well.

There are add-on features to the offered services which involve community participation such as cooking demo, vitamin supplementation, conduct of Responsible Parenthood Seminar,  medical check-up, and Trainings on Vegetable Production, Fertilizer Production, and the Vermi Culture imparted by Vice Governor Manuel “Way Kurat” Zamora.  These services are all for free.

Provincial Administrator Allones said that the applied interventions manifested better results with the positive response and active participation of the community.

During the Barangay Family Development Program Seminar in the first week of October 2013, it gained 70 couple participants.  This is attributed to the plan of facilitating a “Kasalan Ng Bayan” at the barangay recipients to be facilitated by the provincial government.
