Laak Mayor re-elected LMP National VP

LAAK, COMPOSTELA VALLEY PROVINCE, October 30, 2013 (PIA) – Laak Mayor Reynaldo B. Navarro is unanimously reelected as National Executive Vice President for Operations in the League of the Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) during its 1st National Directorate Meeting and Election of National Officers on October 2-3, 2013 at the New World Hotel, Makati City.

Mayor Navarro is now serving his third and last term both as Municipal Mayor and as LMP Provincial Chapter President of Compostela Valley Province.

As a consistent member of LMP National Directorate, Mayor Navarro was thrICE elected to the National Executive Committee and held the positions of Executive Vice President for External Affairs (No. 3 in rank) for 2007-2010 term; Executive Vice President for Operations (next in rank to the LMP National President) for 2010-2013 and briefly served as LMP National President in 2012 and voted again as Executive Vice President for Operations for 2013-2016 term.              

Mayor Navarro is the only mayor in Compostela Valley and even in Davao Region who holds such high positions since the league was established.  He said that with his position, he is confident that he can bring the concerns of the Municipality of Laak and even the concerns of all other Compostela Valley town mayors to the National leaders.

Leyte Mayor Leonardo M. Javier, Jr. was elected the league’s president. Among the other officers elected were: La Paz, Abra Mayor Joseph B. Bermos, EVP for Internal Affairs; Caoayan, Ilocos Sur Mayor Germelina S. Goulart, EVP for External Affairs; Peñaranda, Nueva Ecija Mayor Ferdinand R. Abesamis, Vice President for Luzon; Tuburan, Cebu Mayor Democrito M. Diamante, Vice President for Visayas; and Isulan, Sultan Kudarat Mayor Diosdado G. Pallasigue, Vice President for Mindanao.
Mayor Ace William E. Cerilles of Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur was elected National Treasurer, while Poona-Bayabao, Lanao del Sur Mayor Lampa I. Pandi was chosen as National Business Manager.
Pandan, Antique Mayor Jonathan D. Tan and Catanauan, Quezon Mayor Ramon A. Orfanel, took on the positions of PRO and General Legal Counsel, respectively.                   
Administered by the Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Honorable Manuel P. Roxas II, the re-elected and newly-elected LMP National Officers swore their oath of offices before the 80 LMP chapter presidents across the country. (Janice C. Ollave-IO Laak)
