Asuncion, Davao del Norte (June 19, 2012) – Last June 18, the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte through a soft opening launched its 45th founding anniversary celebrations, dubbed as Kadagayaan Festival 2012, through local government unit-based and mall-based events.
The province rolled out the series of tourism jingle competitions in the LGUs, entitled Himig Turismo DavNor, in Asuncion town to instill a great sense of pride in place among the Dabaonons.
At the same time, the agri-trade fair, tagged as Produkto DavNor sa Kadagayaan, kicked off at the NCCC Mall of Tagum to showcase the thriving homegrown industries in the province.
For the first time, the province lined up external activities to drum up wider participation in the annual festivities, with the Capitol-based activities to start yet on June 29 and culminating on the anniversary day July 1, 2012.
Governor Rodolfo P. del Rosario said this year’s theme, “Convergence and Solidarity”, heralds the larger role that the province now plays, as his administration pursues the P.E.O.P.L.E. agenda, in collaboration with other government agencies, the LGUs, the private sector, and many more stakeholders.
According to Assistant Provincial Administrator Romulo Tagalo, the winning entries in the Himig Turismo DavNor contest shall become the official jingle for the tourism and investment promotions of the local government units. The province allotted a P10,000 prize for each winner.
Other mall-based events also include the indie film competition Sine DavNor 2012 that will be open for public viewing and judging this June 29 at the Gaisano Mall Cinema in Tagum City, as well as, the dance contest which will run from June 18 to July 1, 2012 at the Food Cove area of the NCCC Mall of Tagum City.
