CITY, April 4 (PIA) The Information-Communication Technology-Davao, a
nongovernment organization turned over to the city government today the Center
for Excellence Award for Information Technology-Business Process Management
operations.
Atty. Sam
Matunog, chair of the ICT-Davao City said the city earned the award as it
excels in ICT-Business Process Outsourcing.
He said
the award was given by the Department of Science and Technology in partnership
with Information Technology Business Process Management Association of the
Philippines based on the survey conducted in the country yearly on next wave
cities.
“Davao
City is now recognized internationally as center of excellence for ICT Business
Management operation,” Matunog said.
He said
the award implies that Davao City will no longer be included in the ranking of
ICT-BPO next year as it consequently enjoys being the center of excellence.
Matunog
said that in the past the cities of Cebu, Iloilo and Bacolod were classified as
center of excellence and now it is earned by Davao City.
“Our ICT
workers in either the corporate side or homebased side stand at 35,000 and are
expected to double its number three days or less,” he said.
