DAVAO CITY, Jan 26 (PIA) A leader of
the Maranao group in city urged fellow Maranao leaders to guide, nurture
and protect their culture as they find their livelihood future here.
Aleem Mahmoud Mala Adilao, secretary
general of the Davao Regiona Maranao leaders Federation cited the unity of
their tribe in coming together as federation in Davao Region.
Speaking after the oath-taking
ceremony of the Maranao leaders from various cities and towns in Region 11, he
said every Maranao must perform the task of preserving their way of life.
Adilao said every municipality now
in the Region has a Muslim-Maranao population in their midst.
“Most of us maybe traders, but we
will contribute to nation-building by enlivening the economy and by working for
peace,” he pointed out.
Adilao underscored that as followers
of Islam which is a faith based on peace, every Maranao will work towards the
attainment of peace in the community where he stays.
He also said that anywhere in the
region, the Maranaos who bind together can be partners of the local government
units for development, and for other purposes like peace and order.
“We are
your proactive partners promoting peace and development in the various areas of
