BACOLOD CITY, February 4, 2014 (PIA) – The Province of Davao del Norte harvested three gold, three silver, and 10 bronze medals in the third day of the 2013 Batang Pinoy National Championship in Bacolod City.
Topping DavNor team’s medal tally is the Arnis squad, who grabbed two golds, two silvers and two bronzes.
Angelo Rofel Pendon dominated the arnis’ boys flyweight category, while William Louise Gloriane ruled the boys welterweight division.
Angel Marhl Espinosa (girls flyweight) and Ariel John Manunuan (boys bantamweight) both captured the silver, while Hazel Gisma (girls pinweight) and Ireneo Andaya, Jr. (boys middleweight) settled for the bronze.
DavNor team's volleybelles boosted up DavNor’s gold catch with their smashing win over Iligan City in the volleyball girls finals.
Bernice Arabelle Elesterio secured both a silver in the girls 11-12 200m and a bronze in the girls 11-12 50m breaststroke swimming events. While Elson Jake Rodriguez bagged the bronze in the boys 13-15 50m butterfly.
The taekwondo team also kicked in four bronze medals with Gaverealle Estoque performing well in the middleweight division, Joebeth Onato in the welterweight, as well as, Jovan Kirk Pingoy and Princess Clarizz Joy Saludez both pinning the third best in the heavyweight.
Two more bronzes were pitched in by Rosvel Anne Binondo and Jed Vallie Rayne Aquino in the lawn tennis girls doubles, as well as, Ritchel Villegas in Karatedo’s Kata event.
“Not bad,” Provincial Sports Coordinator Giovanni Gulanes said, as he hopes the dancesport team will bring in more medals when the games wrap up Saturday afternoon.(noel baguio/davnor pio)
