Police Chief installs new regional director, orders to do job with dedication

DAVAO CITY, Aug. 1 (PIA) Police Director General Alan Purisima ordered Chief Superintendent Wency  Pascual, newly-installed  regional director of the Police Regional Office to lead his men in doing their job to serve and protect properly.

He said the main duty of the police is to maintain peace and order.

Purisima recalled President Benigno Simeon Aquino III citing three police personnel in his recent state of the nation address who were merely performing ordinary jobs.

“Do not complicate things.  A policeman’s job is a simple job.  You communicate to people whom you serve, know their needs and address these needs,” he said.

Purisima said the feat of the police as cited by the president draws support from the people.

He said there will be no complications if the police will only do its normal tasks.

Purisima said the challenge of the new regional director will be to stir the PNP XI to a higher level of performance and achievements in the months to come.

He advised Pascual to sustain the institutionalization of reforms within the police force and to surpass his predecessor’s performance.

“This is to show to the public that the PRO XI remains a dynamic office it has always been with the leadership that sincerely has the community in heart and always supported by men and women who always place duty above self,” Purisima said.

He praised Chief Superintendent Jaime Morente for his accomplishments in his stint in Davao Region as director of the PNP XI, particularly in ensuring the peace during the recent local and national elections, the campaign against illegal guns, private armed groups and enforcing law and order.

Pascual said it is not enough that the police are accessible to the people.

He envisioned the PRO XI to be people-friendly, complimented by efficiency and dedication to duty.

“I will intensify police presence in the integrated patrol system in the region, to make the citizens feel that the police are just around to serve and protect them,’ Pascual said.

He also cited the need to improve the skills of all policemen in the region so that all the places will be safe and secured. (PIA XI-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
