DAVAO CITY, Dec. 16 (PIA) – The 1st Mindanao Organic Festival has gathered about 40 exhibitors from the various areas in Mindanao starting today (December 16) up to December 18 at Abreeza Mall to showcase organic foods and products.
The organic foods and products on display are coconut water, rice, coco-sugar, banana, vegetables, and other processed foods like peanut butter, banana chips, etc.
The People Collaborating for Environmental and Economic Management (PCEEM) has organized the festival which is anchored on the theme “Organic Farming: Healthy Environment and Healthy People.”
PCEEM said in a press release that the event was initiated “to remind all of us to take care essentially of our environment and address the insufficient supply of foods through the use of ‘Organic Farming’.”
“The immense devastation brought about by climate change such as floods, heavy rains and earthquakes made us realize that it is very essential for us to ponder on ways to bring back the health of our mother nature,” it added.
PCEEM urged the public to participate in the three-day event and “patronize our safe, healthy and environment-friendly products made in the various parts of Mindanao.”
The other activities to be featured simultaneously in the festival include Christmas décor Making, Organic Cooking and Beverage Making, Essay and Poem Making, Poster Making and Photography to be participated in by high school and college students from all over Mindanao.
