Nabunturan holds Second Indie film festival

NABUNTURAN, Compostela Valley, Oct. 15, 2014 - The Municipal Tourism Council of Nabunturan, Inc. (MTCNI) in coordination with the local government will hold the second Nabunturan Independent Film Exhibition or the NABIFILMEX 2 on October 16 to 19, 2014 at the municipal plaza.

The NABIFILMEX 2 is also sponsored by the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Open Air Cinema Foundation, an international film organization.

NABIFILMEX 2 is a unique film festival considering that Nabunturan has no cinema house.  The Open Air Cinema Foundation is bringing in an inflatable movie screen with 5 meters by 8 meters in size to be mounted in front of the municipal hall.  This is the first open air cinema experience for Compostela Valley and the first to be sponsored by the Open Air Cinema Foundation in Mindanao.

Fifteen (15) competing films from Davao City, Tagum City, Nabunturan and other Municipalities of Compostela Valley Province will vie for the Gimadyawan Award, the highest honor for best film with a cash prize of Php 10,000.00 plus trophy.  NABIFILMEX 2 will also showcase selected films from the NCCA’s national film festival Cinema Rehiyon 5 and 6.  The festival is curated by award winning director and Mindanao film advocate Arnel Mardoquio.  Indie film actor Mon Confiado will also grace the festival.
