Davao City braces for the Ebola pandemic

DAVAO CITY, Oct 22 (PIA) Mayor Rodrigo Duterte wants an isolation room for possible Ebola cases that might reach the city on board a ship and off to the sea.

Speaking to reporters after a consultation of the Ebola Pandemic at the Waterfont Insular Hotel, he said the best way to contain people afflicted with the virus is to put them in a vessel.

Duterte believes the sea cannot be contaminated with the proposed since no bacteria can survive salty water.

“We have to commander a ship if the number of patients rises,” he said.
Duterte ordered the City Health Office to procure the needed equipment to be used in the treatment of Ebola cases.

He also offered to purchase an additional thermal scanner which will be deployed in the airport.

Duterte said he considers the Ebola pandemic as a security problems once its victims quadruple in the city.

He said that as chair of the Regional Peace and Order Council, it is his responsibility to make preparations in the event the Ebola problem affects a large number of people.   (PIA 11-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
