CSC-XI honors Davao City Central 911

DAVAO CITY, Sept. 18 (PIA) – The Civil Service Commission in the region has paid honors to Davao City Central Communication and Emergency Response Center or Central 911 which is recently named as Pagasa Awardee in the Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees for this year.

During the regional awarding ceremony held in the city, CSC-XI cited Central 911 as one of the 11 Pagasa Awardees composing of seven individuals and four groups coming from different regions in the country.

The Pagasa award is conferred on individuals or group for their outstanding contributions resulting from their ideas and performance which have directly brought advantage to more than one department of the government.

Central 911 has won under the group category with two member-awardees composing of team leader Marcelino Escalada Jr. and team member Emmanuel Jaldon.

They will receive the citation together with the other awardees from President Benigno Aquino III in Malacanang this September during the awarding rites in time for the celebration of the 114th anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service.

The Pagasa awardees will each be given P100,000 as cash reward, gold-gilded medallion and glass trophy.

Central 911 also made it as a semi-finalist to the Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award which is conferred on individuals or group for their extraordinary contributions that have nationwide impact on public interest, security and patrimony.

However, the final verdict of CSC’s Special Committee on Presidential Lingkod Bayan and Pagasa Awards declared Central 911 as Pagasa awardee.

Established in September 2002, Central 911 is known to be the first of its kind emergency response system in the Philippines and in Asia, and the third in the world after the United States and Canada.  

Its key functions include emergency fire response system, K-9 services for anti-terrorism, urban search and rescue teams, police and emergency medical services, operating 24/7.

Aside from the Pagasa and Lingkod Bayan Awards, the Dangal ng Bayan Award is another category in the Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees which is part of the Honor Awards Program of the civil service that recognizes outstanding government officials and employees who show outstanding work performance.

Meanwhile, CSC-XI also bestowed the 2013 CSC Seal of Excellence Award to the Land Bank of the Philippines in the municipality of Bansalan, Davao del Sur and the Public Attorney’s Office of Mati City in Davao Oriental for strongly complying with the Anti-Red Tape Act which is being administered and monitored by the civil service.

The month-long commemoration of the Civil Service aims at promoting, showcasing and celebrating heroism in the public service, with this year’s theme: “Tapat na Serbisyo Alay Ko, Dahil Lingkod Bayani Ako.” (PIA-11/Carina L. Cayon)
