Panabo pushes mass civil wedding rites

PANABO CITY, Davao del Norte - In its continued advocacy on the importance of civil registration, the local government of Panabo through its City Civil Registry Office (CCRO), continues to conduct the Kasalan sa Barangay.

Mayor Jose L. Silvosa, Sr. officiated the Kasalan  held on July 21, 2014  for five couples at  the 3rd floor  of Brgy. Southern Davao Hall just in time for the 65th Araw ng Barangay Southern Davao celebration.

The Kasalan was held timely for the barangay’s founding anniversary celebration which bannered the theme,  “Panaghiusa Palig-onon aron Kalambuan atong Maangkon”.

Mayor Silvosa urged the couples to become responsible parents and to emphasize the importance and benefits of marriage for the welfare of their children.

In behalf of the newlyweds, Punong Barangay Jose Resurreccion expressed his gratitude  that the mayor granted the request of the couples to legitimately claim their legal partnership through the Kasalan ng Barangay program. He also thanked for the gifts offered to the newly weds.

Meanwhile, CCRO-OIC Dennis Devillires said that the Kasalan sa Barangay implementation was fast-tracked during the administration of Silvosa who personally officiated civil wedding “to help strengthen families as the foundation of the basic unit of the society”.

The Kasalan provides free of charge marriage certificates, registration posting and solemnization.  (Erwin Cubio – CIO Panabo/jmda)
