PROVINCE--- A huge number public school teachers all over Compostela Valley
troop to the Provincial capitol in Nabunturan to celebrate the “National
Teachers’ Month and World Teachers’ Day” sponsored by the provincial
government under Gov. Arturo Uy and Vice-Gov. Manuel Zamora on October 5.

A. Luistro, FSC extended his congratulations to all teachers through a message
delivered by Region XI Quality Assurance Division Chief Dr. Reynante Solitario.
“We applaud the
unwavering hard work of our educators in igniting the passion of each Filipino
learner…continue to be an inspiration to our dear students. Remember that every
one of you, my dear educators, is a vital part of this country’s daunting task
for further growth and development,” he said in his message.
Highlight of the
celebration is the turn-over of a modernized building constructed by the
provincial government worth P30.0 Million. Construction cost of P20.0 Million
was shouldered by the PLGU and P10.0 Million by the DepEd.
“We are very much
thankful to the provincial government as they also added another P1.9 Million
for the air-conditioning facilities and P3.0 Million for the furniture and
fixtures,” said Asst. Schools Division Superintendent Dee D. Silva, OIC of
DepEd Comval.
The event started
early morn with a “Titsersays” or Zumba fitness hour and followed by a
Thanksgiving mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Tom Avila and Rev. Fr. Edgardo
Bonghanoy. After which, formal program follows and in the afternoon, teachers
had a fun day with Gurolympics, a sportsfest tapping Larong
Pinoy as the major games and were also treated to various Healthy
Lifestyle and Beauty Care such as massage, haircut and nail care services—all
for free.
Other guests and
officials were also present to lend their support and give honor to the
teachers such as DepEd Region XI Dir. Nenita Lumaad; 1st Dist Cong. Maricar
Zamora; Senior Board Member Tyron Uy; SP Members Raul Timogtimog, Macario
Humol, and Ramil Gentugaya. Municipal Mayors as well as other DepEd officials,
ASDS Josie Bolofer, Education Supervisor Ruben Reponte, Education Program
Supervisors and Coordinators, District Supervisors, and School Principals.
