IGACOS adopts 5S

SAMAL ISLAND- Island Garden City of Samal Mayor Aniano P. Antalan  led the unveiling of 5S Management Program initiated by City General Services Office last Monday July 23, 2012.
The 5s Program launching was witnessed by City Councilors Richard Guindolman and Glen Colmenares along with  most of the City Department Heads and CGSO personnel.
“In essence, 5S is not merely about housekeeping, it is likewise about the best applied practice to optimize performance, 5S is a tool to ensure that an office can be a high performing organization”, Percenito O.  Bustamante, CGSO Department Head said.
Bustamante hopes that 5S will be emulated by other offices ,  it being an effective tool in  developing  highly-disciplined, productive and efficient workers  in the organization.
The 5S is derived from the Japanese words seiri, seiton, seiso, seiketsu, and shitsuke. Translated into English it spells out in providing workplace comfort, increasing workplace safety, better space utilization, promoting cleanliness and ultimately improving discipline.
City Mayor Antalan commended the laudable performance of Percenito O. Bustamante for initiating a program that improves employees’ performances.  He encouraged other offices to also do the same.
Antalan gladly shared how other mayors admired Samal Island for gaining a name as one of the best tourist destinations. He gave his word to advance projects on water, concreting of circumferential roads and relocation of informal settlers to further improve amenities of the island city.
He posed challenge to all offices to attain excellent performance in making Samal beautiful and the best tourist destination.
