COMPOSTELA VALLEY, October 7 (PIA) - - The provincial government of
Compostela Valley capped on Sunday (October 5) the celebration of the
National Teacher Week with the inauguration of its new Department of
Education (DepEd) Division Office.
Gov. Arturo Uy and DepEd Regional Director Nenita Lumaad led the
cutting of the ribbon of the two-storey Deped division building.
The construction of the building cost P 30-million, which was funded
by the provincial government and the DepEd with 20-10 sharing,
respectively.
Gov. Uy disclosed that aside from P 20-million the provincial
government augmented P 4.9-million to provide the air-conditioning
facilities, and furniture and fixtures.
Uy recalled that the building was supposed to be constructed on the
previous administration with 50-50 sharing; however there were
miscommunication with then Secretary Jesli Lapus and the project was not
funded.
“When I together with Cong. Maricar Zamora
endorsed it again to Sec. Armin Luistro, he said that the DepEd can only
give P 10-million, that’s why we fund the remaining cost,” Uy revealed.
He challenged division officials headed by Dee Silva, officer in
charge and assistant schools division superintendent, to effective and
efficiently manage the office.
“You should be ashamed if you have a nice building but there is disorder and untidiness in the office,” Uy added.
“I am happy and hoping that this building will inspire you more,” he said.
Uy encouraged the teachers to give their best for the children to have a better education and future.
“It is your fulfilment of your calling if you will be able to mould
your students to be a better individual for their future,” he said.
