COMPOSTELA VALLEY PROVINCE-----Six (6) municipalities of the province benefited the P9.0 Million Quick Response Fund (QRF) from the national government through the Department of Agriculture (DA) as part of Compostela Valley’s rebuilding program.

Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Benjamin Reyno said that the fund was used for the construction of new slaughterhouses in the Municipalities of Laak, New Bataan, Compostela, and Montevista, and for the repair of slaughterhouses in Monkayo and Nabunturan where each of them received P1.5 Million.

Monkayo and Nabunturan slaughterhouses are both categorized as Class AA or in Semi-Automated Classification.

Recently, Nabunturan hosted the free Butchers’ Orientation and Hands-On Training spearheaded by the provincial government which is part of the province’s modernization program on Local Meat Control System wherein Governor Arturo T. Uy further strengthened it through the creation of Provincial Meat Inspection Services with the DA’s Guidelines on Good Hygienic Slaughtering Practices for Locally Registered Meat Establishments as the basis.  (grace almedilla, ids-comval)
