IGaCoS plans for new City Hall

DAVAO CITY- The Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS) is intent of pursuing the building of a new City Hall.
This according to City Administrator Cleto Gales Jr. during his guesting at Marco Polo Davao’s Club 888 Media Forum held today (Jan. 29).

Gales said that City Mayor Aniano Antalan is including it in his priority programs for 2014-2016.
“We are already 16 years old yet we have no City Hall yet.” Gales added.

The current City Hall is actually the old municipal hall of Samal located in Penaplata. The City was not able to construct a new city hall after it was created in 1998. IGaCos was created by virtue of  Republic Act 8471 which merged the municipalities of Babak, Samal  and Kaputian .

Gales said this is the right time for IGaCoS to have a city hall noting that many smaller cities and municipalities across Mindanao were able to build new city or municipal halls.

He said that city’s landbanking program they  were able to acquire a hilltop property just 700 meters away from the current City Hall. Gales said he cannot yet ascertain the budget of the proposed city hall as it is still in the planning stages. (PIA/RG Alama)
